Gone are the days when going gluten-free meant a bleak future of tasteless meals. No matter the reason for forgoing wheat, diners can still tuck into one of the country’s most popular comfort foods — pizza — at these 10 pizzerias. They’ve been selected by an expert panel and voted by readers as the best in the U.S. for their gluten-free pies.

No. 10: Mellow Mushroom – Multiple locations
Mellow Mushroom, which started in Atlanta before expanding nationwide, offers a 10-inch gluten-free crust that can be substituted when you order any pizza on the menu. Four of their pizzas, however, can be specially made using the restaurant’s Certified Gluten-Free Safe Procedures.

No. 9: Rubirosa – New York City, New York
Rubirosa offers a gluten-free menu that includes appetizers, pasta, salads, and a nice selection of pizzas with the option to build your own. It’s a bonus that the restaurant is located on Mulberry Street alongside Manhattan’s Little Italy neighborhood.

No. 8: Kesté Pizza e Vino – New York City, New York
Every item on the menu at Kesté Pizza e Vino in New York City is available in a gluten-free version. That includes appetizers, paninis, and their delicious Neapolitan pizzas with a host of traditional Italian toppings.

No. 7: Chicago’s Pizza – Chicago, Illinois
Chicago’s Pizza began offering their gluten-free pies in 2011. Using a made-from-scratch dough, this pizzeria makes an array of deep-dish pizzas, calzones, and even focaccia rolls for diners avoiding gluten.
No. 6: Robert’s Pizza & Dough Company – Chicago, Illinois
Though the gluten-free pizza at Robert’s Pizza is not prepared in a dedicated gluten-free space or oven, they do make their gluten-free crust in house and follow cleaning protocols for gluten-free orders to avoid cross-contamination. The crust has received rave reviews from guests for its taste and texture.

No. 5: Razzi’s Pizzeria – Seattle, Washington
Razzi’s Pizzeria in Seattle has a special menu for its gluten-free diners, with safe versions of appetizers, sandwiches, soups, salads, pastas, pizzas, and calzones. Pizza lovers can choose between multiple types and sizes of crusts and several different sauces, as well as tons of topping options.

Personal pizzas on the menu at The Couch Tomato Cafe can be served on a gluten-free crust upon request, including buffalo chicken, a veggie house pizza, and their signature Margherita.

Spinato’s menu offers a number of items available with gluten-free modifications. This includes their pizzas, which can be ordered with a 10-inch gluten-free rice flour-based crust or an 8-inch gluten-free cauliflower crust.

Arizona-based Picazzo’s Healthy Italian Kitchen is family-owned and -operated, offering gluten-free pizzas that are prepared in a dedicated gluten-free stone oven to prevent cross-contamination. They also serve gluten-free pasta dishes and gluten-free pizza by the slice, which is a rare find.
