OF DETROIT

Via 313— via meaning “by way of” and 313 being the area code of Detroit. By way of Detroit. Our founders, Brandon and Zane Hunt, are born and bred scions of the Motor City, and have brought with them the best of their hometown. Via 313 is steeped in a deep sense of place, and we’d like you to feel at home.

One-hundred years ago, Detroit was at the center of the world’s automotive industry. To this day, all automotive tradition owes a debt to the inventions and innovations that were birthed in the city on the river. However, headway in the automobile industry is not the only legacy that has emerged from the city of Detroit. As working-class people across the country were enjoying pizza for the first time, Detroit was putting its own spin on the Sicilian version.

On December 8, 2011, the Hunts opened Via 313 Pizza out of a small & nondescript trailer on East 6th and Waller with the dream of bringing Detroit-style pizza to people from all over.

Here at VIA 313 we make genuine, Detroit-style pizza for our family and friends. We take pride in having studied the best pizza our hometown has to offer. We take special care to use only the finest ingredients. Our pizzas are built right, to the last bite— it’s our guarantee.

Built Right...

Our dough is carefully prepped and then allowed to go through a final, slowed rising process in our refrigerators for one to two days before it’s used. This extended rise brings added flavor to our dough.

Our steel pans are reminiscent of the automobile parts pans commonly used by mechanics in Detroit. They’re great at retaining heat, ensuring a crisp bake on all sides.

Two types of cheese are layered not only on top of the pizza, but around the sides of the pan. This gives the pizza a wonderful crunch and makes each slice delicious all the way to the edge.

Our red sauce goes on right before the pizza hits the table, allowing the cheese and dough to get crispy during the bake.
